He eventually uncovers a vibrant fish-themed backpack that strikes a contrast with his otherwise dark and sullen appearance. This concept playfully illuminates the stereotypes and assumptions we form about individuals based solely on their outward appearance. Comics have long been a favorite storytelling medium, and I wanted to channel that inspiration into this piece. Each part of the story is like a meeting point between what's usual and what's strange, making us reconsider what we call "normal." When the day turns into night, the character sits by the window and sees something incredibly beautiful and magical. everyday life and how small things can give joy. From appreciating the color of grass to noticing how perfect the shape of a cloud is, this philsophy helps me to be observant and find inspiration in the little things around me. The process begins with design: the character, props, and colors. Hoping to keep the colors whimsical and relaxing, I based the color scheme off of a sunset, which had enough range to convey the passing time, mood, and gave me a good contrasting palette to convey lighting. Keeping in mind how the extraordinary and the ordinary could overlap, I designed the fruits, drink, and plants in a way that looked like real life but with differences that ranged from subtle to more obvious. Though it doesn’t utlize curves, it can emulate that look and feel. In After Effects, everything was animated with the puppet tool and basic position and rotation keyframes.One of the greatest challenges was finding a way to keep the audience’s attention while still keeping it relaxing. As Composite Lead, I created a guide for compositing detailing hex codes and layer modes to use, along with where to find each setting for those new to compositing. designed the main on end for the movie Sitting in Bars with Cake, a movie based on both a cookbook and a blog detailing the author’s trips to various bars with a homemade cake in effort to socialize with people and perhaps gain a boyfriend. My role was designer and animator, creating the concept with the original cookbook illustrations in mind.
